NJDOT to improve Route 15, Wilson Drive
and White Lake Road intersection in Sparta
(Trenton)– The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the start of an intersection improvement project at Route 15, Wilson Drive and White Lake Road in Sparta Township, Sussex County.
“Improving safety and reducing congestion at the intersection of Route 15, Wilson Drive and White Lake Road can stimulate the local economy by enabling motorists to more easily access downtown Sparta,” stated Governor Jon S. Corzine.
NJDOT’s $2.2 million project will improve safety and reduce congestion by realigning Wilson Drive in order to create a single, four-way signalized intersection on Route 15. A separate left-turn lane will be provided at all approaches to the intersection.
Starting Wednesday, October 15, the right-turn lane from Route 15 northbound to White Lake Road will be closed. Off-road work on Route 15 will entail occasional overnight alternating traffic starting in late October. The alternating traffic pattern may be implemented on Route 15 on Mondays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Fridays from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Saturdays 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., and Sundays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The overnight alternating traffic patterns will allow NJDOT to build the driveways, parking lot and temporary pavement along Route 15 southbound. The project is scheduled to complete construction in July, 2009.
NJDOT installed variable message signs on Route 15 to inform motorists of any change in traffic patterns during construction. Real time travel and construction information is available online at www.511nj.org. |
