NJDOT announces Route 46
intersection improvements in Netcong
(Trenton) –The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the start of a $2.8 million intersection improvement project at Route 46 and Main Street, Down Street and Center Street in Netcong, Morris County.
“This project reflects the State of New Jersey’s commitment to pedestrian and roadway safety and will decrease flooding and improve safety in Netcong,” said Governor Jon S. Corzine.
On March 2, NJDOT will begin drainage work on Main Street as part of construction project that will include the widening of Route 46 and the addition of exclusive turn lanes to Main Street and a left turn lane to Down Street. As part of the project, Main Street will be realigned at Down Street and two new traffic signals and railroad warning signals will be installed on the NJ TRANSIT line at Main Street and Center Street. NJDOT also will upgrade the at-grade railroad crossing and drainage system at the Main Street intersection.
NJDOT will provide advanced notice of overnight and weekend detours and traffic shifts on Route 46, Main Street and Center Street.
The project is scheduled for completion in early 2010.
