NJDOT announces
Route 5
and Route 63 ramp closures
(Trenton) - Commissioner Stephen Dilts today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) on Saturday, May 16 will close Route 5 and the Route 63 ramp between Broad Avenue and Brinkerhoff Avenue in Palisades Park and Fort Lee, Bergen County. The one-day closures are part of the ongoing $15.5 million bridge replacement project on Route 5 over Delia Boulevard.
On Saturday, May 16 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., NJDOT will close the roadway in order to mill, pave and stripe Route 5 and the ramp connecting routes 63 and 5. The original traffic pattern will be restored by 8 p.m.
During the closure, the following detours will be implemented:
Motorists on Route 5 will take Broad Avenue to Brinkerhoff Avenue to Route 5.
Motorists on Route 63 bound for Route 5 will take Brinkerhoff Avenue to Route 5.
This project will improve safety and mitigate flooding on Route 5. NJDOT replaced the Route 5 Bridge over Delia Boulevard, widened Route 5 in Palisades Park, built shoulders on both sides of the highway, installed a stormwater detention system, and constructed retaining walls. The project began construction in June 2007 and will be completed in August 2009.
