NJDOT to improve Route 46 over the Hackensack River
(Trenton) - Commissioner Stephen Dilts today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface and waterproof Route 46 over the Hackensack River in Ridgefield Park Village and Little Ferry Borough in Bergen County.
“The Route 46 Hackensack River Bridge improvement project will improve safety and prolong the life of the roadway,” said Governor Jon S. Corzine.
NJDOT will resurface the roadway and its approaches and apply a waterproof membrane that will protect the bridge from deterioration. The $1.3 million project will be completed by the end of June 2009.
On May 29, NJDOT will close the two westbound lanes of Route 46 from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next morning and shift traffic to the left lane of the eastbound side of the bridge. One lane each direction will remain open to traffic. During the traffic shift, NJDOT will pave the westbound lanes and approaches of the bridge and apply the waterproof membrane.
