resurfacing project in Hammonton and Mullica
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the upcoming start of a project that will resurface approximately four miles of Route 30 in Hammonton and Mullica Township, Atlantic County. The $2 million project was designed by NJDOT staff.
“The $2 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project on Route 30 will enhance infrastructure and improve safety conditions on Route 30 while stimulating economic investment and job creation,” said Governor Jon S. Corzine.
“NJDOT will resurface the roadway in a manner that will minimize disruptions to shore traffic,” added Transportation Commissioner Stephen Dilts
On Tuesday, August 25, NJDOT will begin to resurface Route 30 eastbound and westbound from milepost 32 to milepost 36.2 in Hammonton and Mullica.
From August 17 through September 15, NJDOT may conduct single lane closures on Mondays to Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. NJDOT will not perform resurfacing work on Route 30 during weekends.
From September 15 through the completion of the project in December 2009, NJDOT may close a single lane of Route 30 on Mondays to Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day.

ARRA will stimulate New Jersey's economy by creating or supporting thousands of transportation-related jobs and making long-term improvements to roads, bridges and the transit system. New Jersey's transportation allocation includes $652 million for highways and bridges and approximately $425 million for transit. That total includes approximately $164 million for county and local transportation priorities and approximately $19.5 million for transportation enhancement projects.
