NJDOT reopens Route 159
bridge over Route 46 in Montville
$2 million ARRA project repaired structurally deficient overpass
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Stephen Dilts today announced the reopening of the Route 159 westbound (Bloomfield Avenue) bridge over Route 46 in Montville, Morris County.
NJDOT closed the Route 159 westbound bridge over Route 46 eastbound to traffic in July in order to reconstruct the bridge deck. The new Route 159 westbound structure has replaced the old, structurally deficient bridge over Route 46. NJDOT has also upgraded the bridge approaches on Route 159 westbound. The $2 million project has been funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
“NJDOT is committed to maintaining the safety and integrity of our bridges,” said Commissioner Dilts. “Reopening this newly reconstructed structure will improve safety and mobility for motorists on Route 159.”
The reopening of the new Route 159 westbound bridge on Wednesday morning, December 23, marks the second ARRA funded project in New Jersey to reach substantial completion.
Additional minor construction operations continue at this time. NJDOT anticipates final project completion early next year. NJDOT provides emergency roadway information, construction schedule updates and real time traffic information and images at www.511nj.org. |
