NJDOT announces Route 173 over the
Musconetcong River bridge deck replacement

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced a $1.75 million bridge deck replacement project on Route 173 over the Musconetcong River connecting Greenwich Township, Warren County and Bloomsbury Borough, Hunterdon County.

Starting Friday morning, March 5, NJDOT will close Route 173 at the bridge over the Musconetcong River between Maple Drive and Warren Glen Road. Local access will be maintained during the closure. The bridge, which accommodates one lane of traffic in each direction, will remain closed until the project is completed in late-summer 2010. Route 173 traffic will be detoured as follows around the construction zone;

Route 173 eastbound will be detoured to County Route 637 (South Main Street) to I-78 eastbound to Route 173.

Route 173 westbound will be detoured to I-78 westbound to County Route 637 back to Route 173.

In addition to the replacement of the existing bridge deck, NJDOT will resurface the bridge approaches on Route 173 in both directions. All guide-rail within the limits of the project will be upgraded as well.

The bridge closure is weather dependent. In the case of inclement weather, the closure will be delayed to Saturday morning, March 6.
