NJDOT announces Route 295 pavement

rehabilitation project in Burlington County

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced a pavement rehabilitation project on an 11-mile stretch of Route 295 in both directions from Interchange 45/ Rancocas-Mount Holly Road (County Route 626) in Westampton to Interchange 57/ Route 130 in Bordentown, Burlington County.

Starting on Wednesday, March 10, NJDOT will begin temporary right lane closures in both directions for drainage repair and shoulder reconstruction. Two traffic lanes will be maintained. This stage of the work will be completed in June.

Northbound motorists may encounter single lane closures on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. the next day, and Fridays from 10 a.m. through Mondays at 5:30 a.m.

Southbound motorists may encounter single lane closures on Mondays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. the following day, and on Fridays from 8 p.m. through Mondays at 3 p.m.

In late June, northbound traffic will be shifted across the median to the southbound roadway for pavement rehabilitation. This shift has been scheduled for the summer months when traffic volumes tend to be lower than at other times of the year. The shift will allow crews to rehabilitate all three northbound lanes at once.

Access to interchange ramps will be maintained by providing temporary median crossovers. However, the ramps will be closed at times to accommodate construction and detours will be posted.

Normal traffic patterns are expected to resume in September when rehabilitation of the northbound lanes is completed. Similar traffic pattern changes will be established in 2011 to rehabilitate the southbound lanes.

The $85 million project also includes 12 bridge deck repairs, upgrading acceleration and deceleration lanes at the interchanges, and new guide rails.
