NJDOT announces traffic pattern change on Route 202 southbound over Route 31 in East Amwell
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced an upcoming traffic pattern change on the Route 202 southbound bridge over Route 31 in East Amwell Township, Hunterdon County.
On Friday, April 9, NJDOT will conduct temporary lane closures overnight to shift Route 202 southbound traffic in order to establish a new work zone for the final stage of the bridge deck reconstruction. The new work zone will be established early Saturday morning, April 10.
This stage of the project will reconstruct the center portion of the bridge deck. The work zone will be located in the center portion of the roadway with two lanes of southbound traffic maintained – one on each side of the work zone. The ramp to Route 31 southbound will remain open. Wide load trucks are restricted from entering the area as no alternate routes exist. An exit point to make a U-turn is posted on Route 202/Route 31 southbound.
Final paving and new sidewalk installation along Route 202 will follow the completion of the new bridge deck. The $2.1 million project is expected to be completed in late spring 2010.
