NJDOT proposing to readopt rules on junkyards adjacent to the Interstate and National highway systems
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is proposing to readopt with amendments, N.J.A.C. 16:43, Junkyards Adjacent to the Interstate and National Highways. This chapter effectuates the purposes of the New Jersey Junkyard Control Act, N.J.S.A. 27:5E-1 et seq., by regulating and restricting the establishment, operation and maintenance of junkyards in areas adjacent to the interstate and national highway systems within the State. The chapter ensures New Jersey compliance with the junkyard control provisions of the Federal Highway Beautification Act of 1965, codified at 23 U.S.C. § 136, and the provisions of 23 C.F.R. § 751, Junkyard Control and Acquisition.
The proposed rule appears in the July 6, 2010 issue of the New Jersey Register. The public has until September 4, 2010 to comment on the proposal.
