Route 67 in Fort Lee to be resurfaced

(Trenton) - A maintenance resurfacing and roadway repair project will begin next week on Route 67 in Fort Lee Borough, Bergen County, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced today.

NJDOT will mill and repave asphalt sections of the roadway on Route 67 in both directions from the beginning of the highway, milepost 0 to milepost 1.93, or approximately from Route 5 to the Palisades Parkway. NJDOT will also repair and upgrade the existing drainage system, curbing and sidewalks within the project area.

Beginning on or about August 23, the drainage work will start, followed by the installation of new curbs and sidewalks. During this phase of the project, lasting about three weeks, all efforts will be made to keep all Route 67 traffic lanes – two lanes in each direction – open at all times. However, there may be an occasional need to close a lane, only where crews are working, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to pay attention to temporary “No Parking” signs within the project area. Roadway shoulders will be closed when needed to accommodate work crews. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

After Labor Day, milling and repaving work will start. This work will be conducted only during overnight hours with temporary nighttime lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. NJDOT is confining the repaving work to overnight hours to minimize any impact to motorists. All lanes will remain open to traffic during the day during the milling and repaving phase of the project.

NJDOT anticipates completing work on Route 67 by the end of September.

This project is included in a $7.4 million regional maintenance contract that also will resurface sections of Routes 5, 10, 28 and 440. Route 17 in Ho-Ho Kus, Waldwick and Saddle River was already resurfaced as part of this contract.
