NJDOT announces nightly lane closures on Harrison Avenue ramp to I-280 in Harrison
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced upcoming closures of a ramp onto I-280 westbound in Harrison Township, Hudson County.
Beginning Monday, November 29 NJDOT is scheduled to close the Harrison Avenue/Newark-Jersey City Turnpike eastbound ramp onto I-280 westbound from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning for guide rail improvements. The overnight ramp closures will continue for approximately one week.
During the closures, Harrison Avenue/Newark-Jersey City Turnpike eastbound motorists headed for I-280 westbound will continue to the U-turn ramp to Harrison Avenue/Newark-Jersey City Turnpike westbound to I-280 westbound.
The ramp closures are associated with an on-going $6.7 million resurfacing project along two miles of I-280 in Harrison and Kearny. The project also includes the installation of new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) traffic management tools including cameras and electronic signage along this stretch of I-280. Construction began in March 2009 and is scheduled to be completed this winter.
