NJDOT to repair Route 30/Absecon Boulevard Bridge
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation will start a project next week to repair the concrete deck, deck joints and sidewalks on the Route 30/Absecon Boulevard Bridge over Beach Thorofare in Atlantic City, Atlantic County.
Starting Monday, April 18, NJDOT will begin work on the Route 30 eastbound approaches and will require daytime temporary single lane closures with possible double lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next morning. This eastbound work is expected to require about two weeks to complete.
After the eastbound concrete repairs are completed, work will begin on the Route 30 westbound approaches and will require daytime temporary single lane closures with possible double lane closures from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next morning.
No lane closures will take place from May 15 to September 15.
In September, the boat channel will remain open for all boats not requiring a bridge opening. For boats requiring a bridge opening, the U.S. Coast Guard will redirect the waterway traffic to another channel.
The $6 million project also includes updating mechanical and electrical systems to the bascule span bridge, reinforcing the retaining walls and painting. Completion is scheduled for March 2012.
