NJDOT announces railroad-crossing repairs
on two local roads in Dover
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that railroad crossing improvement projects will require temporary closures on two parallel, local roadways this week in the Town of Dover, Morris County.
North Warren Street will be closed to traffic at the railroad crossing between Clinton Street and the Rockaway River from 7 a.m. Tuesday, January 10 to around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11 to rehabilitate a Morris County-owned freight railroad grade crossing.
• Southbound motorists will be directed to Route 46 east to Sussex Street south.
• Northbound motorists will be directed to West Blackwell Street east to Sussex Street north.
Sussex Street will then be closed to traffic at the railroad crossing between Clinton Street and the Rockaway River from 7 a.m. Thursday, January 12 to around 5 p.m. on Friday, January 13 to rehabilitate a Morris County-owned freight railroad grade crossing.
• Southbound motorists will be directed to Route 46 west to Warren Street south.
• Northbound motorists will be directed to West Blackwell Street west to Warren Street north.
The detour routes were coordinated with the Dover Police Department. Access will be maintained to business and residential properties during construction.
NJDOT will replace the existing crossings with new concrete freight rail crossing and repave the asphalt approaches to provide a safer and smoother driving surface. These projects are part of NJDOT’s ongoing railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades or removes approximately 30 crossings each year on state and local roadways.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
