Utility gas pipe work to require lane closures on
Route 30 in Camden County
(Trenton) - A gas main replacement project, requiring single-lane closures, has begun construction underneath Route 30 (White Horse Pike) in Berlin Borough in Camden County.
South Jersey Gas will upgrade their underground pipeline facilities running below Route 30 between Genesee Avenue and Bishop Avenue in Berlin and Waterford (first phase) and between Washington Avenue in Berlin and Brand Avenue in Clementon and Lindenwold (second phase). The contractor is beginning the first phase of construction at Bishop Avenue in Berlin and will work southeast into Waterford.
The second phase of construction is expected to begin the week of April 23 at the Berlin/Lindenwold border, near Day Avenue.
Phase I work is being accomplished with single-lane closures on Route 30 in both directions from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phase II work will require single-lane closures on Route 30 in both directions from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning Sunday thru Thursday, and from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. One lane will be maintained on the highway in each direction at all times.
The work is being performed under a regional Utility Permit allowing South Jersey Gas access to the state highway to make the necessary underground repairs. The project should be completed by the end of September.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
