Lane closures announced on Route 35 underneath Route 37 bridge in Seaside
Ongoing bridge painting work to require sustained closures
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced a series of scheduled lane closures on Route 35 as bridge painting operations continue in Seaside Heights, Ocean County.
On Wednesday, April 25, NJDOT’s contractor, Jupiter Painting Company, will begin implementing single and double-lane closures on Route 35 underneath the Route 37 bridges at the eastern end of the causeway connecting Toms River and Seaside Heights, over the Barnegat Bay. The lane closures will begin on the northbound side of the highway, eventually shifting to the southbound lanes. The contractor will paint the Route 37 bridges over Route 35 around the clock, utilizing these lane closures, for approximately ten days.
Painting is an important element to maintaining the structural integrity of a bridge. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2012.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are also encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
