Regional roadway repair project begins
in Burlington and Camden counties
Deteriorated sections of Routes 130 and 41 to be addressed
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced a regional maintenance resurfacing and roadway repair project to address sections of Route 130 and Route 41 has begun preliminary construction this week.
NJDOT will mill and repave deteriorated sections of roadway and make bridge deck repairs along:
• Route 41 in both directions from north of Route 70 in Cherry Hill to the northern terminus of the highway at Lenola Road in Maple Shade.
• Route 130 southbound from Lincoln Lane in Burlington City to Cooper Street in Edgewater Park.
The project will improve motorist safety and extend the pavement lifespan along the full width of the roadway at each location, including all travel lanes, turn lanes, shoulders and median openings. Each highway will be restriped and new image-detection cameras will be installed at selected intersections to replace the existing underground loop detectors.
NJDOT’s maintenance contractor, South State Inc., began initial construction layout, including sign installation and site mobilization, earlier this week on Route 41. Beginning next week, the work will be performed during off-peak hours under the allowable lane closures schedule, maintaining at least one travel lane in at each location at all times. Access to all businesses will be maintained and the project is expected to be complete in fall 2012.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website real-time travel information.
