Route 3 eastbound exit ramp to Rutherford Avenue closed in Lyndhurst
(Trenton) - The Route 3 eastbound exit ramp to Rutherford Avenue, located east of Delafield Avenue in Lyndhurst, is scheduled to be closed to traffic for approximately one month for reconstruction.
Beginning on Wednesday morning, May 30, Route 3 eastbound motorists will be directed to continue on Route 3 eastbound and take the exit for Polito Avenue to Rutherford Avenue.
The long-term ramp closure is necessary to help facilitate further construction activities at this location as part of the ongoing $150 million, federally-funded Route 3 Passaic River bridge replacement project
A new Route 3 eastbound exit ramp to Rutherford Avenue is planned to open in late-June. That new ramp will be accessed via a new service road entrance to be located about a half-mile west of the current ramp.
NJDOT’s contractor, Creamer-Sanzari JV, is replacing the structurally deficient moveable bridge with a new fixed span over the Passaic River, connecting Clifton City in Passaic County with Rutherford and Lyndhurst in Bergen County. NJDOT has staged the project in a manner that will enable motorists to cross the Passaic River throughout construction.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
