Route 30 traffic pattern changes
announced in Galloway
New culvert construction to require single-lane closures
in each direction east of Pomona Road
(Trenton) - Traffic pattern changes are planned along Route 30 (White Horse Pike) in Galloway Township next week as the Pomona
Road (CR 575) intersection improvement project progresses to the next stage of construction, NJDOT officials announced.
On Monday, July 9, NJDOT’s contractor, Mount Construction Co., is scheduled to reduce Route 30 from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each
direction between Xanthus Avenue and Augustus Avenue - to the east of Pomona Road - for approximately one month to construct a new culvert underneath
the roadway.
On Wednesday, July 11, the contractor is scheduled to shift all travel lanes on Route 30 - through the Pomona Road intersection - to the newly
reconstructed westbound side of the highway and establish a new construction zone on the eastbound side of the highway. Once the new traffic pattern
is in place Route 30 will continue to carry two travel-lanes in each direction, west of Rosemarie Avenue, during daytime and peak-period hours
utilizing the existing roadway shoulders.
The ongoing $6.5 million project aims to improve safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of Route 30 and Pomona Road by widening the cross
section of Route 30 to feature new left-turn lanes at each approach on the highway. Work is anticipated for completion in fall 2012.
Dynamic message signs are being utilized to inform motorists regarding any changes in traffic patterns.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic
information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
