Overnight lane closures announced for Routes 9 and 166 in Toms River
Deck repairs taking place to Garden State Parkway bridges over state highways at Exit 83
(Trenton) - Overnight lane closures are planned on Routes 9 and 166 in each direction under the Garden State Parkway (GSP) in Toms River over the next two weeks, NJDOT and Turnpike Authority (NJTA) officials today announced.
On Wednesday, October 17, NJTA’s contractor, I.E.W., is scheduled to begin a series of overnight closures to one of the existing two travel lanes on Route 9 northbound and Route 166 southbound to make structural repairs underneath the GSP bridges running over the state highways at his location. The lane-closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning and are scheduled to continue each weeknight through Friday, October 26. No lane closures are anticipated over the weekend.
Route 9 merges with the Garden State Parkway for approximately 3.5 miles in Toms River, between Exits 80 and 83. The bridges being worked on here are located at Exit 83. Route 166 northbound turns into Route 9 northbound directly south of this location, while Route 9 southbound becomes Route 166 southbound directly north of it. http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/refdata/sldiag/State%20Routes.pdf
The ongoing $6 million Turnpike Authority bridge repair project is expected to be complete in December.
