Route 21 northbound bridge painting work
completed early at Exit 8 in Nutley
Third weekend closure of interchange will not be necessary
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that bridge painting operations on the Route 21 bridges over Park Avenue have been completed earlier than expected in Nutley, Essex County.
The Route 21 northbound off-ramp to Park Avenue is major connection to Nutley, as well as Lyndhurst on the east side of the Passaic River.
NJDOT’s contractor, Anka Painting, accomplished the work over the past two weekends, requiring the full closure of the Route 21 northbound Exit 8 interchange ramp connections with Park Avenue to provide a safe and efficient work zone. A third weekend full closure of the ramps had been planned for this coming weekend, but that will no longer be necessary.
Painting is an important element to maintaining the structural integrity of a bridge.
