Route 208 bridge reconstruction over Lafayette Avenue complete in Hawthorne
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that the Route 208 bridge reconstruction project over Lafayette Avenue (CR 665) has reached substantial completion in Hawthorne Borough, Passaic County.
Route 208 has been returned to the original traffic configuration - two travel lanes and one acceleration/deceleration lane - in both directions over the bridge.
As of this morning, the Goffle Road southbound ramp to Route 208 northbound has been reopened and Lafayette Avenue has been permanently reopened to traffic underneath Route 208 as well.
NJDOT’s contractor, Ritacco Construction Inc., has completed the reconstruction of each bridge superstructure as well as sidewalk, curb and guide-rail upgrades at this location. NJDOT scheduled the construction in stages so that Route 208 would remain open to traffic in both directions at all times during construction.
The contractor will continue to finalize some punchlist items, such as installing new raised pavement markers and construction clean up, as the $3.1 million project wraps up before the end of the year.
