Route 21 northbound Exit 6 ramp to be closed
for up to 8 weeks in Belleville
Passaic Valley Water Commission will be performing major water main repair along roadway
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that the Route 21 northbound Exit 6 ramp for Route 7/Belleville/N. Arlington is scheduled to be closed to traffic for approximately eight (8) weeks to accommodate a Passaic Valley Water Commission water main repair project.
The ramp is scheduled to be closed beginning on Monday, March 18 (after the morning rush hour).
Motorists will be directed to continue on Route 21 northbound to Exit 8 for Park Avenue east or west, or to Washington Avenue to Rutgers Street.
The Route 7 bridge will remain in operation and open to motorists during the water main repair work, which is being performed under an NJDOT regional highway-occupancy permit. If the work is completed earlier, the ramp will be reopened accordingly.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are also encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
