Regional resurfacing contract to address deteriorated pavement on Route 206
NJDOT to improve more than six miles in Somerset and Morris counties and at the Somerville Circle

NJDOT will mill and repave deteriorated sections of asphalt and concrete roadway the following locations:

• Route 206 in both directions from near Center Street (milepost 78.58) in Bedminster - through Peapack-Gladstone - to the vicinity of the Lamington River (milepost 85) in Chester Township.
• Throughout the entirety of the Route 206/202 Somerville Circle interchange with Route 28 in Somerville, including all approach roadways.
• The cross widths at three local roadways and their approaches to Route 206 will also be resurfaced;
o Lamington Road (CR 523) in Bedminster.
o Holland Avenue (CR 661) in Peapack-Gladstone.
o Pottersville Road (CR 512 in Peapack-Gladstone.

The almost $5 million contract will improve motorist safety and extend the pavement lifespan along the full width of the roadway at each location, including all travel lanes, turn lanes, shoulders and median openings. All utility hardware (manholes) will be rest within the roadway to improve final surface course rideability. The highways will be restriped and new image-detection cameras will be installed at selected intersections along Route 206 to replace the existing underground loop detectors.

NJDOT’s maintenance contractor, Intercounty Paving, has already begun initial construction activity on Route 206 in Chester this week. The work will be performed under the allowable lane closures schedule, maintaining at least one travel lane in at each location during peak period travel hours. Access to all businesses will be maintained. All work in the contract is expected to complete this fall 2013.
