Route 35 northbound resurfacing to begin this weekend with overnight closure of ramp to Route 138
Contract to address deteriorated sections of Route 35 in Belmar and Wall and Route 34 in Colts Neck continues to advance
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced an overnight closure of the Route 35 northbound ramp connection to Route 138 westbound in Wall Township tonight - Friday, April 12 – from 8 p.m. until around 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.
The closure is necessary for NJDOT’s contractor, Earle Asphalt Co., to initiate final resurfacing operations on Route 35 northbound through Wall and Belmar in Monmouth County. Dynamic message signs will notify motorists of upcoming traffic pattern changes.
The work is included as part of a resurfacing contract - which began construction in September 2012 - addressing section of Route 34 in Colts Neck and Route 35 in Belmar and Wall, all in Monmouth County.
The contractor has been utilizing multiple crews to advance the work at both locations and has completed all work on Route 34, and has resurfaced Route 35 southbound.
The Route 35 northbound pavement work will be done overnight through the month of April - 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. - with single lane closures in each direction. One travel lane will be maintained at all times. The project, which was designed in-house by NJDOT engineers, is expected to be complete in mid-May, before the start of the important summer season.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
