Utility sewer pipe installation to require lane closures along Route 50 in Weymouth
(Trenton) - A municipal sanitary sewer pipe installation project underneath Route 50 (Broad Street) has begun construction impacting the state highway this week - requiring single-lane closures with alternating traffic - in Weymouth, Atlantic County.
Weymouth Township will be installing a new sewer pipe running along the northbound side of Route 50 for around one mile – from just north of the South River at the border with Estell Manor to just south of Danenhauer Lane. The work is being accomplished with overnight closures of Route 50 northbound from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. Route 50 carries one travel lane in each direction in this location, so alternating traffic patterns will be utilized through the work zone overnight.
The work is being performed under a regional Utility Permit allowing the township’s utility contractor access to the state highway to make the necessary underground installation. Traffic control personnel and signage will direct motorists around all work. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-May.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
