Potential Route 9 intersection closures announced
in Galloway for LPGA Tournament
Annual event could require short detours around Seaview Resort with Galloway PD providing traffic management
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today advised motorists in the Galloway area to expect traffic delays over the weekend as a result of the ShopRite LPGA Classic being held at Seaview Golf Resort.
Depending on the amount of traffic in the area, Route 9 can be closed daily between the intersections with Jimmie Leeds Road (milepost 45.3) and Biscayne Avenue (44.3) on Wednesday, May 29 through Sunday, June 2 from 6:30 a.m. until around 7:30 p.m.
The following detour routes would be used for Route 9 motorists:
• Route 9 southbound motorists will take Jimmie Leeds Road west to Pitney Road south to route 9 in Absecon.
• Route 9 northbound motorists will take Biscayne Avenue west to Seaview Avenue north to Jimmie Leeds Road east to Route 9.
• Route 9 northbound will remain open to local traffic between Biscayne Avenue and Bartlett Avenue.
NJDOT is allowing the closure of Route at this location through a regional Highway Occupancy Permit. Traffic management for the event will be handled by the Galloway Township Police Department, whol will make the call on whether the closures will be necessary.
A premier Jersey Shore event, the LPGA ShopRite Classic is once again taking place on the Seaview Resort's historic Bay Course in Galloway. The 54-hole official event will offer a $1.5M purse.
