Route 33 Business to be closed overnight in Freehold
Final paving work to require detour for major access permit
project at Kondrup Way
(Trenton) - Final paving operations will require the full closure of Route 33 Business (Park Avenue) in Freehold this Friday night. The paving work is associated with an ongoing major access permit project to improve the highway in the vicinity of the intersection with Kondrup Way.
Route 33 Business is scheduled to be closed to motorists in both directions on Friday night, July 19, from 9 p.m. to around 9 a.m. the following morning (Saturday, July 20) – weather depending. Route 33 Business carries one travel lane in each direction, with auxiliary turn-lanes, in this location.
• Route 33B westbound motorists will be directed to use Jerseyville Avenue to Route 79 (South Street) south back to Route 33B.
• Route 33B eastbound motorists will be directed to use Route 79 (South Street) south to Route 33 eastbound to Halls Mill Road north back to Route 33B.
The work is being performed under a major access permit. The developer’s contractor is constructing a new driveway for access to/from the complex off of the state highway and new ADA-compliant curb ramps at the corners of the Kondrup Way intersection. The intersection is also being repaved and restriped and the drainage system is being improved.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
