Route 139 Lower Level priority

Detours will be in place for several nights
(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a series of overnight closures of the lower level of Route 139 for priority paving, which will require detours, in advance of the Pulaski Skyway northbound lane closure scheduled for April 12.
NJDOT’s contractor, Schiavone Construction, will mill and pave three separate areas, over the next four nights.
Tonight, Thursday, April 3 – Tonnelle Circle Ramp to 139 closure
The ramp from Tonnelle Circle to Route 139 Lower Level eastbound is expected to be closed at 12 midnight tonight through about 5 a.m. Friday, April 4.
- Traffic will be directed to Tonnelle Avenue southbound to St. Paul’s Avenue eastbound to Kennedy Boulevard northbound and onto Route 139 Upper Level eastbound.
Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 – Route 139 Lower Level eastbound closure
Route 139 Lower Level eastbound is scheduled to close at 11 p.m. Friday, April 4 through about 7 a.m. Saturday, April 5. It also is scheduled to be closed at 12 midnight Saturday, April 5 through about 8 a.m. Sunday, April 6.
- Northbound traffic on Route 1&9 will be directed to get off of the Skyway before Tonnelle Circle. From the ramp, motorists will be directed to Tonnelle Avenue southbound to St. Paul’s Avenue eastbound to Kennedy Boulevard northbound and onto Route 139 Upper Level eastbound.
- Traffic in Tonnelle Circle will be directed to Tonnelle Avenue southbound to St. Paul’s Avenue eastbound to Kennedy Boulevard northbound and onto Route 139 Upper Level eastbound.
Monday, April 7 – Route 139 Lower Level westbound closure
Route 139 Lower Level westbound is scheduled to close at 11 p.m. Monday, April 7 through about 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 8.
- Traffic from New York will be directed to Route 139 Upper Level westbound to Kennedy Boulevard, where they will be redirected to go left and then a quick right onto a ramp down to Tonnelle Circle where they can access the Pulaski Skyway/Route 1&9 southbound or Route 1&9 northbound.
