NJDOT to make priority repairs on Morris
Goodkind Bridge on Route 1 northbound in New Brunswick
Bridge deck repairs and repaving require overnight lane closures
(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures for priority repair and repaving of the bridge deck of the Morris Goodkind Bridge on Route 1 northbound in New Brunswick, Middlesex County.
The asphalt overlay on the bridge deck is failing, necessitating a priority repair with temporary overnight lane closures for several weeks while the work is being done.
Beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, NJDOT’s maintenance crews will begin to mill the existing surface, repair concrete, and repave the deck. One or two lanes will be closed each night from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, the lane closures will continue until 8 a.m. At least one travel lane will be maintained at all times.
Variable message signs will notify motorists of the traffic pattern changes. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information. |
