Palisades Parkway Fletcher Avenue ramp and northbound Exit 1 to have overnight closures this week

Daytime curb work to take place on other ramps

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the Palisades Interstate Parkway Fletcher Avenue ramp and the northbound Exit 1 on and off ramps will have one lane closed overnight this week as milling and paving operations continue.

Tonight, Monday, August 18, and Tuesday, August 19, from 6 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning NJDOT’s contractor, Tilcon New York Inc., is scheduled to close one lane of the Fletcher Avenue ramp from Fort Lee onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway for milling and paving.

Other overnight work from 8:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning scheduled for later in the week includes a single lane closure southbound from milepost 1 to the George Washington Bridge toll plaza, and a single lane closure on the Exit 1 ramps in the northbound direction.

From 10 a.m. today, Monday, August 18, through the afternoon crews will be doing curb work on the northbound Exit 3 ramps. The remainder of the week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. the next day, crews are scheduled to be doing curb work on the southbound ramps for exits 2, 3 and 4. This work will not require any lane closures, however motorists should drive slowly and use caution when exiting.

Milling and paving work will continue in the southbound direction from milepost 5 to the George Washington Bridge toll plaza requiring a single lane closure from 10 a.m. Friday, August 22 through 12 noon, Saturday, August 23.

The work is part of the $11.2 million, state-funded project that will resurface the parkway and the three scenic overlooks, and repair 13 bridge decks as needed. Although the Palisades Parkway is not a NJDOT road—it is owned and maintained by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission—NJDOT has stepped up to repair the road which is in unacceptable condition, particularly after the severe winter.

Motorists are advised to be alert for lane closures and traffic shifts, and are urged to drive safely and slowly through the construction zone.
