Route 4 repaving will require
lane closures in Bergen County
Overnight work begins tonight
(Trenton) – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced temporary overnight lane closures will begin tonight on a portion of Route 4 to repave the highway.
At 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, November 21, NJDOT’s contractor, Della Pello Paving, Inc., is scheduled to temporarily close the two left lanes of Route 4 eastbound from about Virginia Drive in Fair Lawn to approximately Main Street in Paramus to mill and pave the roadway. Construction will take place overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning, Monday through Friday.
No work will be done during the Thanksgiving holiday between 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 26 and 12 noon on Monday, December 1.
Construction will resume 8 p.m. Monday, December 1 to mill and pave the remaining eastbound lane and the westbound lanes. NJDOT will provide information on future lane closures as the project advances. The work is expected to be complete before the end of the year.
Variable message signs will be used to notify motorists of all traffic pattern changes. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
