Route 208 southbound traffic shifts and
ramp closure necessary for utility work in Fair Lawn
Work in two areas requires temporary lane shifts
(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced temporary lane shifts on two sections of Route 208 southbound and a ramp closure in Fair Lawn, Bergen County, starting Wednesday morning for PSE&G utility work.
Before the morning commute tomorrow, Wednesday, December 3, PSE&G will temporarily shift traffic to the left on Route 208 southbound in two places to inspect pipes and install new cable at the following locations:
- Just past Maple Avenue/CR507
- Just before Fair Lawn Avenue/CR 76
Ramp Closure and Detour
The ramp from Fair Lawn Avenue westbound to Route 208 southbound will be closed while crews are working. Traffic will be directed to continue westbound on Fair Lawn Avenue, turn left onto River Road, left onto Berdan Avenue, and then turn left for the on ramp to Route 208 southbound.
PSE&G crews will be working in both locations in the shoulder from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the project expected to be completed before Christmas.
Motorists can expect congestion and delays, particularly during the peak commuting times, and are urged to use caution and slow down through the area.
Variable message signs will notify motorists of the traffic pattern changes. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
