Route 46 eastbound lane closures
necessary for utility work in Lodi
Local detour in place
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced temporary lane closures on Route 46 eastbound in Lodi, Bergen County, for PSE&G utility work.
Over the next two weeks, PSE&G will be doing cable splicing work in three separate locations in a one-mile stretch of Route 46 requiring the shoulder and right lane to be closed. Work on each location will start on different days and is expected to last eight days at each location. Utility crews will be working 24 hours a day until the work is complete.
Thursday, December 4
Beginning today, Thursday, December 4, PSE&G will temporarily close the shoulder and right lane of Route 46 eastbound at Sherman Avenue until December 12. Access from Sherman Avenue to Route 46 also will be closed. To accommodate local traffic that normally uses Sherman Avenue to get onto Route 46, two-way traffic will be allowed on Sherman and Farnham avenues, which are normally one-way streets. Traffic seeking to access Route 46 will be directed south on Farnham to Warren Street to Contant Avenue to Route 46.
Monday, December 8
At 7 a.m. Monday, December 8, PSE&G will narrow the right lane of Route 46 eastbound just past Main Street in front of Greg’s Automotive Emporium. Access will be maintained to the business from Route 46 and customers also may use entrances on Money Street and John Street. The work is expected to be completed by December 16.
Tuesday, December 9
At 7 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, PSE&G will temporarily close the shoulder and right lane of Route 46 eastbound just before Christopher Street until December 17. The NJ Transit bus stop on Route 46 eastbound will be temporarily relocated across Christopher Street while the work is being done.
Motorists can expect congestion and delays, particularly during the peak commuting times, and are urged to use caution and slow down through the area.
Variable message signs will notify motorists of the traffic pattern changes. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information. |
