Commissioner Fox orders review
of last night's NJ Turnpike crash
The goal is to reduce the possibility of future accidents
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Jamie Fox, who also serves as Chairman of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, today ordered a review of the Turnpike’s winter operations related to the fatal multi-vehicle accident last night.
“Safety is the top priority for New Jersey’s transportation agencies,” NJDOT Commissioner and NJ Turnpike Chairman Jamie Fox said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the man who died, as well as those that were injured.”
“The State Police investigation is still underway, however, I believe it is prudent for the Turnpike Authority to conduct a thorough review of last night’s accident as well, including weather conditions and the Turnpike’s winter operations plan and execution, vehicle speed, and other contributing factors,” Fox said. “This will help reduce the possibility of another such accident in the future. Last night’s accident is a sad reminder of the importance we all play in ensuring our roads are safe – whether it is the work our maintenance crews and contractors do, or the need for car and truck drivers to exercise caution during inclement weather.” |
