Lane shift on Route 46 at Little Ferry Circle
Traffic shifts will allow for
continued
work on Route 46 and Bergen Turnpike
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a planned lane shift on the Bergen Turnpike and Route 46 at the Little Ferry Circle.
Northbound and southbound traffic on Bergen Turnpike will be shifted east to allow for construction on the existing Bergen Turnpike southbound lanes. Eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 46 will be shifted south to allow for construction at the intersection. All traffic shifts will take place on Friday, May 8.
The elimination of Little Ferry Circle is part of a $33.8 million project to rehabilitate the structurally deficient Route 46 Bridge over the Hackensack River, convert the circle into a conventional four-way intersection, and to install a new drainage system and pump station to reduce flooding in the area. The project has been coordinated with local officials and emergency response agencies and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2016.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information. |
