Route 168 ramp to I-295

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the ramp from Route 168 southbound to I-295 southbound will be closed this weekend as the Direct Connection project advances in Camden and Gloucester counties.

NJDOT contractor, Conti Enterprises, will close the ramp from Route 168 southbound to I-295 southbound starting Friday, August 28 at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, August 31 at 5:00 a.m. for pavement reconstruction.

The following detour will be in effect for those trying to access Route 168 westbound from I-295 northbound:

Motorists will be directed to continue on Route 168 southbound to the ramp to I-295 northbound. Proceed on I-295 northbound and take Exit 32 (Berlin Road). Turn left on Berlin Road and take the ramp to I-295 southbound

Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with Direct Connection. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming lane closures or traffic shifts.

This work is part of the Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. The Direct Connection project has been divided into four separate construction contracts, with completion of the fourth and final contract in the fall of 2021.
