Railroad-crossing repairs announced
for University Boulevard in Glassboro
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detour
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require the closure and detour of University Boulevard in Glassboro, Gloucester County.
University Boulevard is scheduled to be closed to traffic in both directions at Conrail railroad grade crossing near the intersection of University Boulevard, Oakwood Avenue, and Whitney Avenue from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, until 7 p.m. Thursday, September 10.
- Traffic will be detoured using Whitney Avenue, Redmond Avenue, Route 322 and Girard Road.
The traffic detour will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide a safer and smoother railroad crossing in Glassboro, the existing crossing will be replaced with a new concrete crossing and new asphalt approaches. This project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info. |
