I-295 ramp to I-76/Route 42
to be closed Monday night
Al-Jo's curve closed for barrier installation
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures in the Exit 26 area on I-295, Monday, September 14 for barrier installation in Belmawr as the Direct Connection project progresses in Camden and Gloucester Counties.
On Monday, September 14 at 9:00 p.m., NJDOT’s contractor, PKF Mark III, Inc., will close the left lane of I-295 southbound at mile 26.5. At 10:00 p.m. the two right lanes will be closed at mile 27.5. At 11:00 the entire Al-Jo’s curve will be closed and detoured. All lanes will be reopened at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15.
Motorists traveling on I-295 southbound will be directed to take the following detour:
- Keep left and take Exit 26 to I-76 westbound. Take exit 1C, Market Street. Make a left onto Market Street and bear right onto I-76 eastbound. Take I-76 eastbound to Exit 1A, I-295 southbound.
Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with Direct Connection. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming lane closures or traffic shifts.
This work is part of the Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. The Direct Connection project has been divided into four separate construction contracts, with completion of the fourth and final contract in the fall of 2021.
