Railroad-crossing repairs announced for
Division Avenue at Millington Station in Long Hill
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detour
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require the closure and detour of Division Avenue in the Millington section of Long Hill, Morris County.
Division Avenue is scheduled to be closed to traffic in both directions at the NJ TRANSIT Millington Station grade crossing between Long Hill Road and River Road from 7 a.m. Thursday, November 5, until 7 p.m. Thursday, November 12.
- Traffic coming from Long Hill Road will be directed to Northfield Road, Valley Road and then back to Division Avenue.
- Traffic Coming from Division Avenue will be directed to Valley Road, Northfield Road and then back to Long Hill Road.
The traffic detour will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide a safer and smoother railroad crossing in Long Hill, the existing crossing will be replaced with a new concrete crossing and new asphalt approaches. This project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
