Port Murray Road to be closed for
emergency bridge work in Mansfield, Warren County

Drainage work requires a full closure

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced Port Murray Road will be closed for emergency bridge work in Mansfield, Warren County.

Beginning on Monday, November 30, NJDOT’s contractor, Berto Construction, is scheduled to close Port Murray Road from Hoffman Road to Brickyard Road to replace a concrete wingwall on the approach to the bridge that spans active rail lines. Drainage improvements are also included in the project. With winter fast approaching and the unavoidable freeze thaw cycle, it is imperative that repairs be made as soon as possible to prevent the condition from worsening.

NJDOT has been in contact with county and local officials, as well as the rail operators to coordinate the work. The Department is trying to speed the repairs as best as possible to minimize the impact on traffic during the closure. The project is expected to be completed in January.

The following detours will be in place:

Southbound Traffic:

• Motorists will be directed to CR629/Rockport Road to CR652/Thomas Road to Route 57 west to Port Murray Road

Northbound Traffic:

• Motorists will be directed to Route 57 eastbound to CR652/Watters Road to Rockport Road to CR629/Main Street

NJDOT will be using Variable Message Signs to provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work.  The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
