Route 1 northbound lane closures necessary for resurfacing project in Middlesex County
Daytime and overnight closures start today
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced daytime and overnight lane closures from Raymond Road to Aaron Road on Route 1 northbound for the start of a resurfacing project in Middlesex County.
Starting today, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again tonight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and continuing during off-peak hours and weeknights for several weeks, NJDOT’s contractor, Della Pello Paving is scheduled to temporarily close lanes and shoulders along Route 1 northbound from Raymond Road in South Brunswick to Aaron Road in North Brunswick, Middlesex County. Initial project work will consist of shoulder lane closures for sign installation. Project work consisting of milling and paving, the installation of ADA compliant curb ramps, and pedestrian signals at each intersection is expected to start within a few weeks.
The $2.25 million state-funded resurfacing project will maintain at least one travel lane in each direction at all times to minimize the impact to motorists. Lane closures will be during off-peak hours. There will be temporary ramp closures with signed detours during overnight hours. The project is expected to be completed by early 2017.
Variable message signs and detour signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the resurfacing project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road or ramp closures.
