Route 130 lane closures for start of Crystal Lake Dam safety improvements in Burlington County
Traffic shift required for dam improvements and bridge repairs
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of safety improvement work on the Crystal Lake Dam and repairs to the Route 130 Bridge in Burlington County.
Next week, Monday, April 18 through Thursday April 21 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, NJDOT’s contractor South State Inc., is expected to close the left lane of Route 130 in both directions between
CR 662 in Bordentown and Crystal Lake Park in Mansfield, to install concrete barriers and restripe the roadway.
Traffic on Route 130 northbound and southbound will be shifted to the shoulders, allowing two 11-foot lanes to be maintained in each direction until fall 2016 for the first stage of construction.
NJDOT has designed work on the $4.6 million federally-funded Crystal Lake Dam project to be performed in stages. The project is expected to be completed in early 2018. The project includes repairs to the existing bridge, construction of a new emergency drawdown outlet and drainage outfall, removal of vegetation from the embankments, and new guiderails. The project is designed to bring Crystal Lake Dam into compliance with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Dam Safety Standards.
Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
