Route 208 overnight lane closures necessary for resurfacing work in Bergen and Passaic Counties
Work throughout the project area requires temporary lane shifts
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced temporary weeknight lane closures for the resurfacing of Route 208 northbound and southbound in Bergen and Passaic Counties.
Starting Monday, May 2 at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. weeknights, NJDOT’s contractor Asphalt Paving System will temporarily close lanes on Route 208 beginning northbound along sections of Hawthorne, Glen Rock, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, and Oakland for the milling and resurfacing of Route 208 northbound and southbound.
The $3.8 million federally-funded resurfacing project is expected to be completed by fall 2016.
Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the resurfacing project. Throughout the next few months, there may be additional lane and ramp closures. Any required detours will be coordinated with the local authorities.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
