Railroad-crossing repairs begin next week on South Egg Harbor Road in Winslow
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require road closures and detours beginning next week in Winslow, Camden County.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, August 8, until 7 p.m. Friday, August 12, the two-way traffic on South Egg Harbor Road is scheduled to be closed between Spring Road and Fleming Pike, before the railroad grade crossing. The following detours will be in place:
Car detour from South Egg Harbor Road:
• Cars traveling on South Egg Harbor Road will be directed onto Spring Road
• From Spring Road, motorists will make a right onto Hall Street
• From Hall Street, motorists will make a right onto Hay Street
• From Hay Street, motorists will make a right onto Fleming Pike and proceed back onto South Egg Harbor Road
Truck detour from South Egg Harbor Road:
• Trucks traveling on South Egg Harbor Road will be directed onto Old Forks Road
• From Old Forks Road, trucks will proceed onto Route 30 north/White Horse Pike
• From Route 30 north/White Horse Pike, trucks will turn left onto Route 143/Spring Garden Road and proceed back onto South Egg Harbor Road
The traffic detour will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadways will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing in Winslow, the existing crossing will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
