Route 17 closed tonight in
Paramus
for Parkway structure demolition
NJDOT advises of lane closures in both directions
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced multiple lane closures on Route 17 in Paramus to permit the demolition of Garden State Parkway structures as part of a New Jersey Turnpike Authority project.
Tonight, August 12, until tomorrow morning, August 13, the Turnpike Authority will close lanes on Route 17 in both directions in the vicinity of mile marker 13.6 where the Parkway crosses over Route 17. From 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. there will be a single right lane closure in both direction. From 11:00 p.m. to midnight there will be a double lane closure in both directions. From midnight to 4:00 a.m. all lanes will be closed and detoured on Route 17 in both directions. Then from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Route 17 will be reopened with a double lane closure in both directions. All closures will be removed after 6:00 a.m.
The closures will permit the demolition of two Parkway structures that cross over Route 17. The following detour will be in place for motorists from midnight to 4:00 a.m. in both directions:
Route 17 northbound:
- Turn Right onto Century Road. Turn Left onto Fairview Avenue. Turn Left onto Midland Avenue. Proceed onto Route 17 northbound
Route 17 southbound:
- Take ramp to Midland Avenue then turn left onto Midland Avenue. Turn Right onto Fairview Avenue. Turn right onto Century Road. Take ramp to Route 17 southbound
Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the interchange improvements project.
