Route 130 lane closures for Raccoon Creek Bridge
in Gloucester County
Traffic shift required as bridge and highway improvements advance

Beginning at 7 p.m., Friday, September 23 until 5 a.m. Saturday, September 24, NJDOT’s contractor, PKF Mark III, Inc., is expected to shift traffic on Route 130 at the Raccoon Creek Bridge, from the two outside lanes, to the two inside lanes for utility and roadway work. The new traffic configuration will remain in place for several months, maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction.

Island Road access to Route 130 southbound will be closed for several months as part of the new temporary traffic pattern.

Main Street access to Route 130 northbound at the south end of town will be temporarily closed within the next few weeks as part of the bridges project. Main Street traffic will have access to Route 130 northbound from Barker Avenue, which is located at the north end of town.

The following detours will be in place for the next several months:

Island Road to Route 130 Detour:
• Motorists on Island Road will be directed to Ferry Road, make a right onto Route 44/Springers Road, a left onto Hansons Row, and a right onto Barker Avenue/Stump Road to Route 130

Main Street to Route 130 Detour:
• Main Street traffic will follow Main Street north, make a left onto Barker Avenue to Route 130

NJDOT has designed work on the $53 million federally-funded Raccoon Creek Bridge replacement and pavement rehabilitation project to be performed in stages. The project, which began in June 2016, is expected to be completed in late 2019.

Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.
