Ogden Avenue to be permanently closed next week at Railroad-crossing in Rockaway
Necessary track work will follow road closure
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today are reminding motorists that the last of four railroad crossing rehabilitation projects that will require road closures is starting next week in Morris County.
Beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, October 31, Ogden Avenue is scheduled to be closed permanently to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between Jackson Avenue and Drake Avenue, at the railroad grade crossing. Motorists should use the crossing at Cobb Street in the future. Plantings, curbing and guide rail will be installed at Ogden Avenue to buffer the railroad from outside access.
In addition, the tracks and railroad ties at the existing crossing will be replaced. The work is expected to take one week. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
