I-280 westbound ramp closures for resurfacing
in Morris County
Two consecutive overnight ramp closures necessary for
construction project to advance
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced two consecutive I-280 westbound ramp closures overnight at New Road and I-80 westbound local for a resurfacing project in Morris County.
Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight Monday, October 31, and continuing until 1 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, NJDOT’s contractor, Intercounty Paving Associates, is scheduled to temporarily close the ramp from New Road to I-280 westbound in Parsippany for milling, paving and striping work. Resurfacing on the ramp is expect to be completed overnight.
Immediately after the resurfacing work is completed, the New Road ramp will reopen, and from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, resurfacing work will begin on the exit ramp from I-280 westbound to
I-80 westbound local in Parsippany-Troy Hills.
Only one ramp will be closed at a time during construction. The I-280 westbound Resurfacing Project which began in late October is expected to continue until late fall 2016.
The following signed ramp detour is expected to be in place from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. the next morning, starting Monday, October 31, and continuing until Tuesday, November 1.
New Road ramp to I-280/I-80 westbound detour:
- Motorists from New Road in West Hanover wishing to gain access to I-280/I-80 westbound will be directed to Route 46 west
- From Route 46 west, motorists will travel onto I-80 westbound local
The following signed ramp detour will start once the above work is complete and reopened to traffic. The detour is expected from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m.
I-280 westbound ramp to I-80 westbound local and I-287 detour:
- Motorists from I-280 westbound wishing to gain access to I-80 westbound and I-287 will continue past the interchange on I-80 express westbound
- Motorists will be directed with detour signs to loop around Route 202 to I-80 eastbound and continue eastbound back to I-287
Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the interchange improvements project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road or ramp closures.
