I-78 ramp to Route 1 & 9 south
to close overnight for electrical work

Traffic will be detoured Friday night in Newark

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the overnight closure on Friday of the ramp from I-78 eastbound to Route 1 & 9 southbound in Newark.

Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, February 3, until 5 a.m. Saturday, February 4, NJDOT’s contractor, Daidone Electric will close the ramp from I-78 eastbound to Route 1 & 9 southbound to perform underground electrical work.

Traffic attempting to access Route 1 & 9 southbound will be detoured to Exit 58 to Route 1 & 9 northbound, then to the Frontage Road exit and back onto Route 1 & 9 southbound.

Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the bridge replacement project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road closures.
